What were some excesses of the Roaring 20's?

Although all historians might not agree, most do, and state that the 1920's in the US caused the world wide Great Depression of the 1930's. The Great Depression started in the US in Oct. 1929 when the US stock market, and then the US economy 'crashed'. The crash of the US stock market and economy has been blamed on the excess of too easy credit in the US during the 1920's (most people owed on everything and were living way beyond their paychecks (because employers were not raising them) and could never pay back the money they owed), and on a complete lack of government regulation and laws for the US stock market and banking system (for example in the 1920's you could buy and own stocks by paying only 1% of the purchase price and just 'owe' the rest, and banks were not required to keep any amount of money on hand, but could just 'invest' the depositors money however the bank wanted to, to make the banks owner rich).
