Problem installing Ubuntu 11.04 (freezes at 'starting PCI card service')?

Most likely IS your video card, that kills many installations before they start. Boot up Ubuntu and when you get to the Boot Menu hit F6(More Options) and select the nomodeset switch and then boot. See if that helps you.
