What type of vacuum should be used on a frieze carpet? I've heard suction only canister... is that true?

The manufacturer would not recommend a specific vacuum, they suggested a canister, our salesman said suction only. Have you tried to find a vacuum that does those things because I have and I can't seem to find anything where you can turn off the brush and still get a good suction AND be able to push it on the thick carpet.
